debt on a mortgage

Quite a few years ago my daughter had a car on finance and my husband agreed to be a guarantor. She stopped making payments and both my husband and daughter got letters asking for monthly payments. My husband paid £50 per month, but daughter didnt pay. Everything was going alright until husband lost his job in october. On the advice of the CAB we wrote asking if he could pay a £1 each month which wasn't accepted. The court then sent a county court judgement and have been told by the CAB that the courts may apply to the Land Registry to have the debt put on our mortgage. My husband dosnt want this happening as the CAB said that while the mortgage may go down the interest will continue to rise. The debt is £6,000 but interest has been added.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Did you not send in a response to the CCJ submitting your SoA re payment?0

Yes, I believe the CAB did that on our behalf, they've got all our details on file. But it wasn't accepted.0

What about your daughter? Tell me to bog off for being nosey but how come she didn't pay? Is she prepared to pay now?Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0

personally i`d sit your daughter down and tell her exactly how it is! that you are now up poop creek because of her actions....she needs to take responsibility and fast!proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance!

Who has the car now?
Can you sell this to get some of the debt paid?
I think your daughter has to know the severity of this.
Good luck :grouphug:Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0 -
The car was given back to citroen and sold but they still want over £6,000. Daughter won't/can't pay as she too is unemployed, she's renting a place so the court probably thinks they are onto a winner with us having a mortgage. You're right, daughter is irresponsible, we have other debts due to her but that's another story.0

unfortunately as guarantor you guys are responsible for this debt  and ultimately if it doesnt get paid soon the debt will be put on your mortgage, you must feel devastated that by trying to help out it has all horribly backfired on you. please dont help your daughter out anymore untill she can be more responsible and when she does get a job be the first at her door with your hand out to try and recoup some of the thousands of pounds she has cost you. i know she is your daughter and you obviously love her but she needs to realise her actions have had serious reprocutions on your finances. dont let her get away scott free with this one as you havent been so lucky!proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance!
