Second the Asian supermarkets.A lot of things are far better value there than any non-Asian shop.I can get a litre bottle of Soy sauce & Fish sauce for a fraction of the cost of a much smaller bottle from Tescos,Pappads,I can buy a pack of 20 for less than the price of a pack of 8 Sharwoods ones.Spices, salt & pepper, chips even, all much cheaper than Tesco's Asda ect.I got a big 2kg bag of breaded Garlic Mushrooms for around £2.80,only difference was the packaging.
  • Batch cook some meals on a 2/4 week basis. You could easily afford:

Shepherds pie (mince lamb/beans/onion/oxo cube/pos/cheese) makes 4 good portions and freezes lovely.
Spagbol (mince beef/tin toms/onion/herbs value)-makes 4 good portions and freezes well. Serve with basic pasta.
Chicken Curry (chicken portions (debone), either use spices or ready jar) 3-4 good portions and freezes well. Basic rice/nan.
Stew (cheap cuts/onion/swede/beans/carrot/frozen veg/sachet sauce) 4 good servings. Serve with mash.

    Lots of stuff.
