I'm also a fan of these, but only for an emergency savings buffer and not for long-term investments.

I'm not at all sure that this is a good time to buy long-term investments. Gilts certainly look pricey, and I'm not confident about equities. Marking time intelligently for a few years in ILSCs might be a wise move and provides flexibility.

Looking backwards, I must say that our ILSCs have proved a pretty good investment over the last 5 years.

I'm not confident about equities, but confident enough to have been a big net buyer during 2011. This worked pretty well and I'm actually ahead of plan ... for now.

I only started buying them fairly recently as part of building up a cash buffer for retirement. I'm planning to use drawdown and dividend income equities so need to be able to live off cash for 3-4 years during market dips.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

I am not confident on all equities but feel there are some great buys out there in times of weakness.

So, I am buying but not hugely.
