DMP - Barclaycard
**STRESSED**
Hi
I've been on a DMP now for 6 years (this year) and have an estimated debt free date of July 2014. Over the years, I have constantly wrote to Barclaycard asking if they could freeze my interest or move my payment date as I always incur a charge each month depsite not having used the card since I cut them up on starting the DMP. Has anyone fought this Barclaycard and won? I could really do with some guidance. I have asked the CCCS and they said its entirely up to the creditor but just wondered if anyone else had incurred this problem?
I know I should be excited to be nearly debt free but i constantly feel like I should be doing more despite living to my budget each month and rarely going out or spending money I just feel a little disheartned.

I can't help I'm afraid as our DMP has just started. However we too have a Barclaycard and I have a feeling we're going to have the same issues with them xOur LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568
Oct 2012 = Current debt: £40,548.93
Oct 2013 = Current debt: £39.054.70

May be worth making a complaint to the FOS.
Some people in similar circumstances have had refunds and/or interest/charges stopped.
Read the section in the lending code on repayment plans etc: http://www.bba.org.uk/download/6673
Where creditors should show forbearance to those in financial difficulty and should not extend your repayment time unduly by continuing to charge.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

So do u think it is worth writing to barclaycard again quoting this or do u think it will aggregate matters? Thanks for the reply and help0 -
Hard to say really. If they've suspended interest then may not be worth rocking the boat?
Perhaps ask CCCS and see what they reckon.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi, we also have a DMP with Barclaycard, after a few grovelling letters and phonecalls they did stop interest for 6 months, but then put it upto 6.9%. When I spoke to a really nice lady, she said 6.9% was better than the 27% I was paying - so can't really argue.
Creditors do not have to freeze interest, they are a business and will want to make money. You can ask but they don't have to give.0 -
What interest rate are they charging you? We started our DMP in October 2011 and we are charged 3% pa.
I think if you are being charged fees and high interest it is def a good idea to write and complain as we did this with the Halifax and they stopped interest and refunded all charges.0 -
l am the same boat as huskypup, they did freeze it for six months, then l asked them this year if they would do it again.. I think the total payment at the end will be about £100. 00, we owe about £367.00. we are in a extended dmp with payplan, for least 8yrs.. It is due to end next December 2012. After January l am going to higher my payments to payplan, hopefully it will clear my dmp sooner..0
