My first day at the job centre

Today was my first day in signing on for JSA and how things have changed. I signed on briefly when I left school at 16 and I remember the job centre staff pressuring you to apply for jobs, Went in today and couldn't believe how busy the place was, it was packed at 9.30am in the morning. Filled out forms and whatever else and their was no pressure to apply for anything presumably because there is nothing out there, it felt like the staff just are their to process JSA claims where as before they used to get you work.
Is this the same at every job centre now?

Hi
When I signed on, the JCP staff didn't really help when it came to job hunting. As along as I applied for 3 jobs a week and called the Job Seekers phone line it was ok. (I used to take a table with the jobs I applied for every time I signed on).
I received most help finding a job via Newham Workplace. They helped with my CV, interview skills and job screening.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
When I've had periods of unemployment before there were always jobs to apply for at the jobcentre like kitchen assistant, pub work, office work, cleaning, warehouse work-picking and packing etc. Now theres hardly any of this at all. 3,000 people sign on there and usually around 60 people per week get a job!0

Can I ask who your advisor was at workplace? I was a fixed term JCP EO but was offered a job at workplace before my JCP contract ended and am still there.
It's a small world!!0 -

It was Chris Duran. He's really patient considering some of the candidates he has to see.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
There was actually a queue out the door of the Brighton one this morning when I walked past. I think it's the same everywhere
