Whenever I have been in one the staff are usually very pleasant. They've just refurbished the one near us and made it all funky looking. Some of them have really seen better days, and unfortunately its pretty clear that as a business they are skint.
The main problem with them is that the food is so expensive. It isn't bad, but just far too expensive in comparison to local restaurants and pubs, so they get no local trade only people on long journeys.0 -

This might be part of the issue too ... with modern cars being so much smoother and more comfortable, with more gadgets, than 20 years ago, people are more prepared to make their journeys in one hit ... whereas 20 years ago people were more likely to take a break.ruggedtoast wrote: »... so they get no local trade only people on long journeys.
