  • Well I've sort of gone down the lucky dip route now with a sweetie lucky dip. I've wrapped individual lollies and decorated a large box for the kids to delve into. I thought this way they won't go home with too many sweets and kids love lucky dips. Do have a pic but can't post it yet:(

I'm still struggling with what to give in addition. I bought some cellophane cones of ebay very cheaply (couldn't find clear piping bags anywhere!). I was intending to do hot choc powder and marshmallows but I did an experimental one yesterday and it looked a bit naff. I only put in 4 heaped spoons as per instructions but it looked rather pathetic.
  • Crafty me is usually spoilt for choice, time gets in the way... If you have many kids the same age try to do the same bag for all, not personalise them. they'll always be an absent child, some non-invited but expecting a spare, birthday child frustrated for not having any etc. I also said from now on, no party bags with sweets and plastic but nice touches instead. Crafty presents will suit all ages: print A5 sheets from the net and add sets of 4/5 colouring pens (keep free ones from some restaurants next time!) sharpener/eraser/pencil packs are cheap and OK with boys & girls young and old. Home-made cake/brownies/cookies are healthy. Real (but cheap) ribbon will look really posh with a big thank you luggage label on it. Signed by twins of course! if they're too little use painted hand prints-fun time to share with them for you .before the big day.
Remember what you put in your cakes for allergic children-parents will ask for egg etc content.
I'm preparing dd 4th party as well and LOVE the Xmas sale!!!
  • ps: lollies are a no-no with me. At least not in my house. write a disclaimer so parents don't sue you because they were idiots letting their kids run around with that in their mouth and it pierced their throat. we see sillier things happen on the message board...
