It's too early to tell, I only took the DMP over from Stepchange this month. My new payments are very different to those administered by Stepchange and this concerns me as to how the creditors will react. Time will tell and I will report back.

Sorry, don't often post in this thread but I will also follow your progress with interest. Thanks to a PPI I have lost two creditors, can loose another and be just left with one. Unfortunatlely it is the one that has been charging interest, thus taking nearly half of what I pay them each month. I am on a DMP with Pay Plan, who have been good but I don't want to pay my entire monthly DMP to an interest charging creditor. I'd want to pay them less than the "disposable" income Pay plan say I have, especially if they still charge the amount of interest on the higher payment. So think I might have to self manage my DMP from this point forward. The creditor would still be getting more than they are with PP just not the full DMP amount I pay monthly to PP at present, so I would hope they might accept unless PP have told them what my monthly dispoasable income is. Good luck with yours.

  • Hi all

Just a quick update to say that the DMP process seems okay so far.

I've heard back from just over half of my creditors so far, all accepted DMP - three stopping interest and charges and one has halved my interest. All in all a pretty good response.

As has been said on this board before, my debt total has risen this month, due to charges/interest for last month. At least I know it should be getting better in the New Year.

Thanks for all the information and support so far.

Looking forward to a more positive New Year, now I'm back in charge of my finances, rather than the other way round!

    Merry Christmas everyone

Great news. You have done well for some of them to stop in the first month.

I am STILL having problems with Very/Shop direct, they just refuse to accept that they have recieved any paper work from Stepchange regarding my DMP but funnily enough they had my DMP client reference number when I phoned them! :\ Oh well, after speaking to Stepchange they have informed me to write to Very and have proof of the letters being sent and recieved, so we shall see where this goes! :) x

But it's a CCCS (now StepChange) blog and MSE seems very keen on StepChange recently, so I would have thought one more chance to promote their services would be encouraged.

Doesn't matter who's blog it is. You are not allowed links or instructions like that in your signature without permission.

For example, I still had to get permission for the ones in mine. Even though they were to CCCS, NDL, CAB etc.

If SAAC emails the forum team and asks permission, they may give it. :)

  • HI all i am in month 2 and not going quite to plan at the moment. Hfx CC still charging full interest have written again to say if they dont will write to FOS to take on. May be looking for a template soon. BOS Loan keep saying they have no record have spoken to SC who say they are having problems with BOS and Lloyds over how they identify loans ( roll nrs against sort code and account nos) so the debt is being held by SC till this is sorted.

Barclays have said they will charge 6.9% but didnt show up on this months statement as yet. and OD is ok although i supsect a pile of charges at the end.

So think my estimated DFD could push back just worried Hfx not stopping interested could push me out of DFD for like 15 years.... But at least at the moment am paying a set amount so even with xmas on the horizon i have enough to buy for dinner. Aldi turkey this year so will report back on how nice it was :) have a good week all.
