  • Well, I wish MBNA would make their minds up!

Back when we started the DMP, we got a letter saying that they accept our lower payments and that they will freeze interest etc. Great news. Did they say how long for?
Then, a couple of weeks ago, they sent us a letter saying that they were going to default us. OK, as you know not a bad thing on a DMP
Then, last week we get another letter saying that they accept our lower payments (we've had to make adjustments through CCCS) and will freeze interest, standard and reasonable given you have adjusted DMP amount and now today another letter saying that if we don't make up the arrears, they're going to default us. It will most likely be automated letters system which is inevitable. You can only be defaulted once so I wouldn't worry about it

    ARRGGHHHHH!!

    Hope that helps

  • so, anyone got any advice for me re: my post about MBNA? It might have got lost in the flurry, but they don;t seem to be able to make their minds up. Should we just ignore and let them get on with it until they come up with something concrete?

We get loads of contradictory letters from MBNA and we ignore them all. First they wouldn't accept the DMP, then they wanted a SOA from us not from CCCS, then they wanted CCCS to send them everything again to another office, blah blah. Then they reduced interest and accepted the DMP but still kept writing to tell us we hadn't made payments. The last letter told us we were very good at making regular payments and as long as we kept it up, they wouldn't default us and would write something nice on our credit file! I was looking for the kisses at the end of that particular letter :rotfl:

I would ignore them but we tend to ignore most things these days, being on this DMP has made us so chilled and increasingly cheeky, my OH reckons I am now the world's expert at getting stuff cheap or, even better, for nothing :D

  • Hi all, just wondering what you all allow for entertainment each month?

Me and OH have literally had no life for the last 6 months and we haven't gone out to the cinema or for a meal or even a coffee.

Now the DMP is sorted we have some leway to do some of these things but how many and how often?

Do you go out once a month? Twice a month? What do you spend?

We go out for family birthdays so 4 times a year. The self imposed price limit is £10 per person but daughter pays for her and granddaughter's share so our total entertainment budget is £80 per year. We have managed to find a few great restaurants where we can manage that and still have a super time. The last one was a Chinese tea time special, 4 courses for £10 each including a free bottle of wine and a drink for the little one :)

    Hey everyone

Quick update on our situation. DMP started 1 May. 3 payments out of 72 made to be debt free. Until.........my tax code changed and my income is now £50 lighter each month, husband has meeting at work today and his hours are being cut and his income will be cut by £100 per week!!!!! Aaargh!

So disappointed that this has happened so early on in our arrangement, but at the same time, so thankful we are in an arrangement as I can talk to CCCS about what to do and potentially reduce the amount we are paying. Not ideal, but hopefully not a permanent situation so it won't put us back too much.

BR - I've had letters from Barclaycard confirming I'm on a DMP, then a letter saying they haven't heard from our 3rd party, and now a letter saying they accept the plan even though they've had two payments from us, all confirmed in our latest statement!!! As TTFTM has stated above, I've also become very good at just filing and not worrying.

On the subject of Fifty Shades! Have read the first two books, and honestly, they are so terribly terribly written. I wasn't sure how many holy cow's I could take!! But I still got addicted to the storyline and am now looking to borrow the third instalment!!! :)

yes it does, but I'm just wondering if we should write to them and tell them to make their minds up? lol
It's only bothering me cos they haven't actually defaulted us yet, I don't think - it's full of 'mays' and 'mights'.

Oh I've always been a cheeky one, I'll always give getting money off a go - I get it from my mother who was always writing letters to companies and getting free stuff or vouchers lol

I'm keeping all the letters in our DMP file and just waiting for them to make their minds up what they want to do...atm it's just confusing.

Oh that is bad news about the tax code and OH's hours, am really sorry to hear that :(

Have you checked that HMRC have definitely got your tax code correct now? Mine was a mess last year, they gave me a rebate then said I hadn't paid enought tax and changed my code three times in the year

I'm sure CCCS will sort it for you and fingers crossed it won't be for too long. :)

Re Fifty Shades of Grey, you are as smutty as HH and rdchick. All three of you are very rude and naughty :p

Am beginning to think I am the only person here who hasn't read it :rotfl:

This is exactly what happened to me!!! In December I got a rebate, which was unexpectedly fab. Then got a new tax calculation to say I'd underpaid with a new tax code. When I checked it, it was wrong! Have definitely got the right code now.

:o You must read it, it's good fun! Though I do wish Mr Grey was a bit older, 27 is just way too young (for me anyway!)

Nope. I'm in the 'never in a million years' club too. Starting with the fact that it's based originally on Twilight Fan Fiction... then adding the numerous reviews slating the writing and apparent lack of an editor... And we won't even touch on the subject matter (which some of my friends have said is about as 'daring' as a mills & boon). Perhaps I just have odd friends though :rotfl:

    :p

In other news, after getting the call yesterday to confirm our DMP is set up and will start from 1st August, we got home to a letter from Santander reminding us that our 5 year fixed interest deal on our mortgage expires at the end of July and our mortgage is going up by £61 from next month

Had to call CCCS this morning, adjusted our budget to accommodate and reduced our DMP by the corresponding amount. They were lovely (as usual) and also suggested looking for a new deal on our mortgage. They're referring us to Compass to try and get a new fix. Does anyone have any experience with them?
