Employer stopped paying SSP

What does it mean when employer stops paying SSP , it has been for 2 months, 3rd month not paid at all despite medical certificate been sent to employer. :(

  • SSP is payable for 28 weeks. You should ask why it has been stopped. Were you off sick before, fairly recently? Periods of sickness that are close together are 'linked' so that could be one reason you've had your full amount?
Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.

Have you spoken to your employer about why it's stopped?
How long have you received SSP?
SSP is only payable for 28 weeks then you should receive a SSP1 form from your employer which you can then use to claim Employment Support Allowance.

Were you recieving Statutory Sick Pay, or employer funded sick pay? Employers can decide whether or not they pay employer funded sick pay and many have a limit for how long they will pay it for. You are, however entitled to the minimum SSP though, and if your employer is not paying it, I think you can claim it back from the DWP. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Illorinjured/DG_10018786
