Sale prediction thread

Can I make this a prediction thread?
We all know how supermarkets are trying their best to con us into thinking that their price drops are genuine. What they actually do is raise the price of a pre-sale item first and then cut them down claiming it is on discount.
Well how about we try and predict this phenomena? If anyone notices one of their regular shop items suddenly getting dearer for no apparent reason, then report it here and we can then all see if it does indeed get knocked back down again under the guise of a 'sale'
Who knows, maybe it might shame the retailers into realising that we are on to them.

yes I do, they have been £6.99 in my local Co Op for ages and I always buy them for hubbys sarnies, they are also £6.99 in Tesco (not on offer) so I dont see why you have put them on this thread as its a genuine offer?

They are £3.49 in Tesco too.

If value Tuna chunks are 45p to 75p (prices yo-yo) how can they justify £1.75 (pre offer, £6.99 4 pack John West)

Suddenly a few stores follow like sheep and can afford to sell them at least half price. (or more with Morrisons)

  • to be honest.. its getting to the point where i will not know what will be a genuine price for things, as one minute they are inflated, then reduced, then bogof, as it seems they havent got a constant selling price like there used to be, before all these offers, price wars, price drops started:mad:

You've hit the nail on the head !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are not saying they are trying to confuse us - are you??? LOL

Recently I got caught by Morrisons, 5 x Heinz soup for £3 offer shelf card for a couple of weeks (so £1.25 off) AND the next week it was 4 for £3. (so 40p off BUT like a muppet I bought 5!) Iceland were doing 5 for £3 last week.

I was talking about the John West £3.49 Tesco price in response to your £6.99 post.

The Value Tuna chunks are very meaty/intact. (the flakes I don;t like)
