I had a chat the other day about our contracts with my collegues and looked at mine afterwards.
I am now wondering. The clause about the notice period (I am still in my notice period yes) implies that there if I am deemed unsatisfactory the legal minimm applies, which would amount to 1 week it states somewhere.
Not a word about what if it was me who found them unsatisfactory.
Can a probation period be one sided, on the side of the employer only?

Forgive me for being a bit dense as i have just woken up from a nap, but surely if you've found them to be unsatisfactory then the notice period would be as laid out in the part about resignation..Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

If your asking if the notice period can be different depending on whether it is given by the employer or the employee, then the answer is yes. For example your employer can require you to give a month's notice but only give you statutory notice (which is one week per year of service). This can apply during probation, after or both. Probation doesn't come in to it. May not be fair, but remember who's writing the contract.0

what I mean is withing teh probation: would I also be able to quit on short notice or will I be held to the rather long regular one?0 -
You'll be held to whatever your contract says...The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
