Human hair extensions

So, I have been thinking about how I would like my hair on the big day. I don't like my hair tied up but would consider half up but I think I would new more length. The wedding is 18 months away but the bottom layer of my hair has pretty much reached it's growing length (about 1.5 inches below shoulder), I am planning in growing my layers out but keeping my side fringe. Anyway, I have decided that I may need hair extensions and thought I may purchase some to see what I think of them. I went to a local hair dressers and the cheapest they do them is £90 for a full head. My cousin (she lives in the US) suggested eBay, she get hers from hong kong/china and usually uses the cheapest seller.

Has anyone got experience of buying real hair extensions from china? If good which seller did you use? Is there anywhere in the uk I can get them from relitavely cheap? Would I actually need a full head?

Any advice will be greatly received.

I have bought some. NOT from China. I got some clip on ones - a full head of real hair from a local hairdressing suppliers. My neighbour is a trainee hairdresser - befriend one, they are brilliant! and as she works in a salon she can access the lower prices. They are called Sally's -I'm not sure whether it is national chain - and I bought them for around £50. I FULLY intend to use them after the wedding also! They really add volume and length, meaning I can do some different styles than normal.

    Hope that helps.

I recently bought some fake hair that clips in from Ebay.
It looks real and the seller was great.
it was £9.00 and looks lovely.

It's shiny and bouncy. Much better than the ones my daughter bought for twice the price

The one's I got in Sally's are separate clips so you can put them in randomly. I think this avoids the 'line' you sometimes get between your own and the extra hair. Or so I am hoping!!

You know it comes from dead people, right?
  • £90 for a full head is brilliant value to me...! When I had extentions a few years back, I paid £250!!! Silly me :( But I am going down the extention route too. either that, or a full updo.
  • Cheap hair extensions don't last they become matted and tangled and have a high content of silicone on them. Once they has been washed off they become like rats tails. They won't be much good, if your having permanent hair extensions fitted, find some excellent quality hair which I can recommend and this will lat you for a very long time if cared for well.
