AMP bank on mortgaged property next door (neighbour to one we want to buy)

We have seen a nice semi we want to buy. The roof shared between the 2 properties needs some work (the chimney). Got the title deed from land registry for neighbour as want to know about the repair (which we and him would be liable for). My questions, please:

1. The lender of the neighbour is AMP BANK LIMITED (incorporated in New
South Wales Australia) of Park House, Lynch Wood, Peterborough PE2
6ZA. Is that odd - an Australian bank?

2. A shared chimney, how we can go about making neighbour take responsibility for it if he doesn't?

Thanks

    1. Bank of China advances mortgages in the UK. So nothing unusual in an Australian Bank conducting business.

    2. A good neighbour will take responsibility. So perhaps good indication as to whether the purchase is worthwhile. Otherwise what other issues might arise once you've moved in.

Thanks. I think we should have a chat with them now before we proceed with the sale

AMP bank is a blast from the past. It was the banking arm for the old Pearl assurance group (hence the address being an old Pearl building and all Pearl mortgages/deposits were brought under AMP) . They sold their mortgage book to Newcastle Building Society when AMP left the UK.

There are lots of foreign companies operating in the UK. Nothing strange at all.
