Hi Paulcornwall
I just wanted to say don't be ashamed. I came to this site about a year ago and following the advice and support given to me here I contacted Payplan and discussed it with them. The rest, as they say, is history. It was a bit scary at first but it gets easier. And to be quite honest you've taken the scariest step already by listing the extent of the problem.
Good luck with CCCS.Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - DFW Nerd 323

Just to reinforce others sentiments, don't feel ashamed, facing up to your debt and doing something positive about it takes courage, far more than sticking your head in the sand. So well done for taking the first steps, it may be a long road but at least you are on the way.£2 savings club - £54Official DFW Nerd No. 308Proud to be dealing with my debtsBarclays - I want my bank charges back, and I'm gonna get them!0

I moved to the Co-operative bank. It was fairly straight forward as you can do it on the internet. They've been fine for me.Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - DFW Nerd 323

Hi - I could recommend an Alliance and Leicester one, check on the referral board as there is some sort of cashback offer when you open one!0

Hi Paul well done on your work so far. Just to make things easier when you do contact cccs you might want to have a read through SS's first timers thread and post an SOA showing what your income and outgoings are going to be. Have a look at Entitledto.co.uk to see what kind of benefits you might be able to claim.
OK once you have your SOA sorted out with your APR's you can have a play with the snowball calculator to work out which debts to pay off faster to reduce the amount of interest you are paying over all.
If you post your SOA on here people will come will a million ways to reduce your spending on all the boring things like utility's and insurance.
You can also look on the national debt website / give them a ring for advice too which is a lot easier once you get the paper work together Either way the SOA is the best place to start to see just where you are at.
After you've done all that
you need to get a little note book and write down in it in great detail what every penny is spent on, every tenner from the cash machine, every mars bar. So then at the end of the month you can see if it tallys with what you think you are spending on things, and puts it in black and white you have a 100 quid starbucks habit (ok that's me but it is amazing what you find). Once you start doing this and taking note of what you are spending then you know if you really do have X amount left over each month or not.
I don't know what to recommend about your mums loan but if you do the above it will be a start in the right direction and make your cccs call easier if you have this all to hand.
