You could make your own fruit compote and add it to natural yoghurt, that is if natural yoghurt doesnt have a lot of sugar in it.

Sainsbury's Organic Natural Low Fat yoghurt has 8.8g sugar per 100g, 2.2g fat / 100g and 0.7g is saturates.

When I first started eating natural yoghurt I found it was yuk without a wee bit of sugar in it and I added less and less till I was weaned off it! With fruit it's lovely!

    How???
I didnt have an issue with my weight anyway, but I find that more frequent walks to the local shops/market/gardening/coooking, keeps me active enough to not need to go to the gym at the moment.
If you make lots of food which is fatty or high in sugar then change your recipes. I don't put sugar in crumbles (in the fruit part), use lemon juice instead of salt in soup, have soup as a starter as it filling and easy to make fat free. Drink plenty of water cos thats free/cheap and will fill you up before meals. If you are a grazer, as I sometimes am, then try having things like dried fruit/fresh fruit around. If you must have a cake then make one, and if you need chocolate then do some form of physical activity first so that you 'earn' it!Banana cake will take having half the sugar taken out and replaced with the same weight of dried fruit.
Jelly is dirt cheap and low in calories/fat for a popular pud, as are meringues. Tesco mini meringue nests are 14 calories each and v little fat.:)
I never have margarine in sandwiches either.
Chinese food, homemade of course, eaten with chopsticks, takes longer to eat therefore you may think you have eaten loads when you haven't.
Hope to help. Ask awaw if theres anything else you want to ask.
Most of all good luck and happy moneysaving!

  • No Tiff, i hardly ever use oil or fat, i fry absolutely nothing.....everything is done in the oven. I always use semi-skimmed milk.

We have been eating loads of potatoes and pasta and im wondering whether i could be sensitive to carbs??

I never add salt and very rarely add sugar to puddings, except when i have cooking apples.

Theres only me and the 2 kids so generally, i will buy a large chicken, which does 3 meals (with potatoes and veg, chicken and veg. soup and sweet and sour chicken) and a large tub of steak mince which does another 3 meals (mince and tatties, shepherds pie and mince soup)
In between we have things like lentil soup, sausage and mash, corned beef hash and the odd pasta bake.

could be a mild intolerance to carbs or gluten but more likely to be water retention

decrease the amount of salt and eat more rice (this is based on experience and is not medical advice, please consult your doctor too if you have any health concerns)

switch to skimmed milk and er, cut out the coffee and fags *wince* ;) drink water instead and "smoke" carrot sticks

best of luck (from an ex fatter ex smoker)
