Tax Advisor

Hi, can anyone recommend a tax advisor in the northwest who deals with working abroad as self employed (sole trader) and what country they need to pay tax in, also registering a company that is going to be contracting self employed people to work abroad.

Found quite a few on google but prefer to go by word of mouth, also an average of much they charge for advice?

Many thanks,

Ems

This is pretty specialist and also depends on what country you are operating in. I have a client who has about 50 sub-contractors in the USA but - very sensibly - having registered a Permanent Establishment out there he has a CPA out there dealing with the US side of things, and me for the UK side. It's hard enough dealing with the UK tax code never mind learning a different one. That said, the US system - or French or German system, for example - is an order of magnitude easier for a UK tax guy to deal with than the likes of Bulgaria, Ukraine, etc.

I suggest you post up on AccountingWeb - https://www.accountingweb.co.uk - and also identify the countries concerned. You're going to hit a lot more accountants and tax specialists with that posting than you are on here. I have experience of setting up operations in several countries but whether I'd feel suitably qualified and experienced to even make you a quote I am not sure.

    Hello there

I can recommend someone - but they are based in the South West. They specialise in expatriate tax. It is a small business and rates are very reasonable.

I'm guessing most of your discussions can be over telephone and email. As a lot of his clients are based overseas they tend to rely a lot on email.

Send me a PM if you would like his contact details.
