Changing work role

Having been installation manager for fourteen yrs and ten yrs prior in other positions for a small company and hated the job, I was asked by MD if I would let new employee take over and told if it did not work out I would not be be asked to return to it and happily accepted a surveyors position.
After eight months new employee resigned and I was asked to return to my old role and, I said no but I would do it temporary for six weeks until they found a replacement as no one else wanted to do it.
After six weeks I was called to a meeting where the MD informed me that they could not find a suitable replacement but had found a replacement surveyor and as I had not had a pay rise for five yrs I reluctently agreed to do it permanently on the basis of pay rise and they would give me additional help of two hours a day from another employee.
Eight months on I am getting constant critisism from GM the MD's son who insists on more and more out of me and have just found out my Xmas bonus was half of other colleagues despite not having any sick days for third year running, I have disputed this and GM says I am not undertaking all my roles satisfactory and I earn more than most of the others. The MD does not want to get involved.
I would like to Know if I have any grounds to return to previous position as surveyor or can get any help as I feel I am constantly being used as a scapegoat.

I dont think you have any "grounds"
Who manages you? Do you have regular 121s, PDPs etc? How is your performance measured? Is it a complete suprise when you get lower bonuses? These are questions you need to think about0
