There is a newish one in the city center - PureGym which doesn't require a contract, you just pay monthly. Quite a few of the people in my office use it and say it is clean and good equipment. there also seems to be a good selection of classes to attend if that suits you.
I'm a member of the local authority one in my area which suits me fine as I get access to all their gyms/pools and classes so I can't comment personally but have heard good things.
This is the pure gym link

I've also heard you can get a one day pass to try it out first - may be worthwhileNO FARMS = NO FOOD0 -
There is the Glasgow Club as well, which would give you access to all of their facilities around Glasgow. But it'd really depend on what you wanted/needed out of a gym in terms of facilities and classes, etc.0

In the city centre there's Caledonian University gym, good range of classes and instructorsLife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

I would also highly recommend pure gym. I have been a member for a few months now and am really enjoying it. It is a busy gym but has just been extended and there's so much equipment that you never need to wait to get on anything. No pool but very reasonable at only 17.99 a month. Plus there's no contract so you can cancel whenever.0
