Advice for a pensioner who owns his own home

Hi I was wondering if someone could give me some advice regarding grants for home improvements for my elderly uncle who lives alone aged 76. He currently owns his own home, which used to belong to the council but it needs a few improvements as the house is a bit run down, new kitchen units bath/shower etc, doors and windows would also need replaced as there is draughts coming through. He uses a gas cooker, but has no cooker hood or extractor fan. The benefits he currently gets are a state pension and lower rate disability allowance. I would like to help him but don't know where to start. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

This is not a question about pensions so this is the wrong forum.
I would have a look at the benefits forum and ask there. And maybe a trip to the CAB for free advice?0
