Freezing Macaroni Cheese

My husband loves mac cheese. I was wondering if I made a load, could I freeze it in those foil containers then just defrost and cook. Would the cheese sauce still taste the same and would the macaroni go a bit mushy? Any advice welcome.

Haven't had any xp on freezing it, but if I know I'm making extra for in the fridge I tend to make the sauce a bit thinner so that it heats up better in the microding later. Whereas if we're eating straight away the sauce is a lot thicker. Think if I was going to freeze it I would try making the sauce a bit thinner too. Let me know how it goes if you decide to try it

I'm not a fan of freezing the pasta, it just doesn't have the same texture once it is frozen.
The sauce on the otherhand is totally fine frozen, we've a few portions in the freezer ready to add to some freshly cooked pasta when we need it.0 -
I agree with Big Graeme, I don't like frozen pasta either and prefer to freeze the sauce and then just cook the pasta when needed.

There was almost the same question here a couple of weeks ago. The advice given was, that if you do freeze it (after all you can buy frozen ready-meals of it!) defrost and reheat in the oven. If you do it in the microwave apparently it's pretty awful.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Thank you for your comments, I like the idea of freezing the sauce actually.GC 2012 April £0/£150
