Applying for mortgage with new job.

Me and my partner have a 'no obligation reservation' on a property that isn't build yet. The house will be built by the end of June 2012. As i am in full time education until May i am unable to be in full time employment until then. Will a mortgage company still give us a mortgage if i can only produce proof of full time employment/salary in the form of a contract of employment? No pay slips etc. My partner will be able to produce all relevant information on his part i just will be unable to. Halifax have advised that a contract should be sufficient and if not one months pay slip. Just checking this is the case as we have a tight time schedule to get a mortgage in place by the end of June and don't need any hiccups then.

Any help/experience on this would be great.

Thanks.

( we have checked our affordability etc and are aware how much i need to earn etc)

How certain are you of commencing full time permanent employment in June?

There will be a few lenders that can help on the basis of a job that is to start shortly. Looks like you have already been given the green light by Halifax.

I would not wait until the last minute to submit an application - do it a couple of months beforehand, which should should be long enough to tackle any problems that might arise, and a short delay in the completion of the building.
