I would pay off what you can from the cards but what about....

Pay £500 to American express, reducing the balance to £600
Put about £300 aside to spend.
Pay about £50 to M&S card
    Pay £400 to HSBC card.

That way you wont have to put anything back onto the American express card like you would be doing if you did plan B.

thanks for the advice .... check out my sig tomorow to see what i've done (dont know it yet!!!!):rotfl:

i picked the keep some savings options, BUT i think £500 is a bit steep! thats a heck of an emergency fund, at least for someone in your debt, and how likely is it that you'd need THAT much for an emergency? mayeb just £100 or so, you can add to it at a later date.

'emergency' spends on cc's are what got me into debt before and after consolidating!

lynsayjane - that makes sense.. i will probably keep about 100 then.

but i have just paid off a debt of £55 with my HSBC card, kind of maxing it out again so I will have to pay at least 450 to HSBC....

I'd keep about £100 in ready cash too. That should cover just about most things.

me personally i'd prob pay£1000 to amex as intrest on that is the highest., then keep £250 for emergancies and any spends might need in the month.

are u likely to be getting the same amount of wages next month ? if so u could again wipe a huge chunk of debt off.

no, I'm afraid this is a one-off, next month should be around £1300 (which is still good!!!) I will be right here on the 9th of March, phishing for advice!!!

I hope my DFD will be sometime in September.
