In July 2010 I took out a whopping £20,000 loan with Tesco (over £29,000 inc interest). It was over 7 years so due to finish in August 2017.
In September last year I made an overpayment to the loan which reduced the term and I have now refinanced with Nationwide - a £13,000 (£14,800 inc interest) which is only over 3 years.
I am making my first installment in a couple of weeks and then the loan will be all gone by 28th December 2014 - so I managed to shave off 2 years and 8 months off my debt.
Role on the end of 2014 and I can start to save for a deposit on a bigger home for me and my little family.
