Caster sugar has increased hugely in price to £1.79 in all the major supermarkets but I buy mine in Lidl for 99p. This is the 1kg pack.
I haven't checked the Lidl price since just before Christmas when I stocked up so it may have changed recently. Does anyone know?

I got a 2kg bag from tesco on the 23rd dec and it was £2.68- as I never usually buy sugar so I have no idea if that was a good price or not. It seemed expensive.

I used to get through tons of caster sugar but I have not bought it for years. I make cakes 3 or 4 times a week and use granulated sugar. I am sure it is finer than it used to be. I used to stick it in the food processor for a few seconds and that makes it the same as caster sugar but now I don't even bother. Cakes always come out lovely (well mostly).

Just give your normal granulated sugar a wizz in the blender and hey presto you have caster sugar...not exactly rocket science.

OP asked a question about prices not a lesson on how ta make caster sugar themselves, or comments about their IQ...

I buy in Aldi at 89p for 1kg - last time I bought it was before Christmas but don't think it has gone up.
