Family Holiday competitions

I don't generally enter holiday comps as most are for two people and I don't like to leave my daughter behind as it doesn't seem fair.

Some holidays are for families which is great, but they usually state that the children need to be under 12. As my daughter is 12 (almost 13) that leaves her out again. However, when competitions state that the holiday is for 2 adults and 2 children under 12 I wonder if they would accept just ONE child OVER 12, anyone had any experience with this?

I enter the holiday comps for two even though I have two boys, I work on that fact that should I be lucky enough to win, I would hope to have enough to pay for my boys to go aswell. They would probably accept one child only, it works out less for them in the long run.

I think it really depends on the competition provider as to how flexible they can/want to make themselves. I personally couldn't see a reason why they wouldn't but you never know how with some companies.

I dont enter many holiday comps either, sometimes I enter the ones for two people to Europe but thats about all. I have 3 adult children and so would find it difficult to decide who went on holiday with my partner and I and who could not go. I suppose as they are adults we could offer to pay the difference but I prefer not to have the hassle as then we would have to consider their partners also.

I also wondered this but have heard people say they paid extra to extend holidays and put add ons. I only enter if you can go in school holidays (unless its a weekend break).

My 11 yr old nearly won a break to belgium. It was for 2 adults and two under 12's. A lady rang me and said we were 2nd in line as the winner couldn't go but as I only have 1 under 12 the break was passed on to someone else. Slightly gutted and glad my daughter was at school at the time cos I never did tell her.

Last year I won a holiday to Las Vegas and The Grand Canyon. It was supposed to be for 2 adults and 2 children under 12 but they let us take our 17 year old son instead of the 2 children.

I don't enter most of these now due to a 'family' holiday not being available during school holidays...

I was going to mention the school holidays thing too. Most of the family holiday comps state you can't take them during school holidays which leaves most families out. A bit ridiculous really.

I enter the ones for 2 adults and 2 children (under 12). My DD1 is coming up 12 this year, and I'll quite happily leave the OH at home :D

I was saying the other day how many holiday comps are out there but only for 2 adults :(
    Thanks to all posters :A
