Hi All
Hope some people will be able to shed some light on this....
I have a severe headache and suffering from temperature.I really want to take Moday(tommorrow) off. But I think my colleagues told me that if I do so the weekend will aslo be counted in, hence 3 days off. This is for Education Dept in Birmingham City council!
Does any1 now if such a thing exists? I know shoud have clarified it earlier , but.............really dont wanna do tommorrow.
Thanks in advance if any1 can help me!

I think that for SSP, Saturday may be counted as absence. Before SSP, Saturday was counted as a working day for NI purposesHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Surely if you phone in sick tomorrow then that would be your first day sick. I would have thought that the weekend would only count if you were off on the Friday and still sick on the Monday after.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

The weekend only counts if you were due to work Saturday and Sunday and called in sick then also. Since I think you are only calling in tomorrow your sickness starts tomorrow.0

It also counts if you were sick on Friday and Monday = four days0 -

Cannot comment on your employer's sickness policy you need to check details of that with them; but as far as SSP is concerned your employer should ask you when the first day of sickness was. If you say Saturday then it would count from Saturday, if you said Sunday then would count from Sunday and if you said Monday then would count from Monday. Actual payment of SSP would depend on a PIW forming, which are qualifying days and waiting days.0

Thank you to one and all to whom replied to this thread!!!!
texted a work colleaugue late on Sunday too , to get an idea on this!!!!!!
Yes, Monday counted as my first sick day.
However, If I had taken Friday off too, then it would have been my fourth day off sick(friday, Saturday, Sunday nad Monday:o)-though I dont agree with this rule as the weekend is not my working days!!!!!!
still off today aswell-so thats 2 days sickness already in 2012...good start...huh!!!!!!0 -

It's designed to stop people taking the p*ss and taking fridays off sick so they can have a long weekend.
Hope you're feeling better soon0
