Dark chocolate, min. 70% cocoa solids. Which to buy?

Recipes for chocolate cakes and similar nearly always seem to specify that you should use good quality dark chocolate with minimum 70% cocoa solids.
I was just wondering which brand and type people thought was best (and best value for money)? A couple of people have recommended Green & Black's Organic Dark Chocolate. Any others out there that would do the trick? :bdaycake:

Another vote for Green & Blacks, although I think Lindt might do a dark chocolate with min 70% cocoa solids.0

I bought some Lindt at Christmas and I got a 90% one.

I usually get mine from Lidl and sometimes Aldi.
Really good and brill for cooking. I also only use the 'normal' plain 200g bars for things like Rocky Road and it is very niceNicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

Green & Blacks is a rip off, go to Lidl or Aldi they have good selections.0

Green and Black's is heavenly and a special treat if you are eating directly - if you know what I mean. if you are using it for baking then I would recommend the supermarket own brand 70% plus chocolate as it is considerably cheaper. Tesco do several dark chocs - from memory 70%, 80% and 90% and a milk chocolate one. They are way cheaper than G&B's.
When I'm being really frugal I mix the higher content chocolate with some really cheap supermarket stuff (think the Tesco value is about 30p) but that takes a bit of practice.
I think of Green and Blacks as a luxury back home but I'm currently in the US and saw it in a supermarket the other day at almost £5 per bar:eek::eek::eek:0 -
i am not a fan of green and blacks personally but i tried the tesco 86% one the other day at 53p a bar (was on offer) and it was VERY nice. i eat it tho not cook with it lol
it was in a dark packet and i think it was a single estate one

Aldi chocolate is brilliant for cooking / baking - it melts really well and tastes even better than the premium brands.0

I think if you are baking, unless it's for a very special occasion, I would just use the smart price dark chocolate bars. Average price is 30p for 100g, and it has a higher cocoa content than Bourneville! Maybe around 40% but perfect for most baking purposes. BTW, the asda and sains ones are much nicer and taste richer than the tesco equivalent.
We buy them for eating too. Less sweet than some more expensive brands.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

Thanks for all the responses. :money:
I think I'll buy a few and see which one I like best. Not bothered about the cost, just was wondering the best taste really. Only one way to find out I suppose since everyone's taste is different.0
