  • Woo Hoo - well done on getting the extra hours at work :T:j

Looks like things are slowly coming together :D
  • Busy busy busy weekend! Sooo much fun! Damage to budget £85

I know this because I am keeping the spending diary up to date which is definitely progress. I need to go through and tweak the budget and find out where that has left me for the rest of the month. All in all it was good value for money because I got to spend the weekend in London with lovely friends, went to a comedy night with an old friend and met new friends, went to a vintage tea party for my brother's girlfriend and had Sunday roast. Yum, yum, yum. Had such a lovely time and feel almost like I've had a holiday. So I am not going to be hard on myself. I set myself an albeit impromptu budget and stuck to it.

So, other money related news... I told you about extra hours at school :) Feeling a bit vulnerable though because turned up late today as had Dr's appointment only to find DS1 poorly in the office needing to go home :(. So another day off work. Today counts as overtime so they haven't lost anything - I just come across as unreliable. I'm hoping things will settle down after his tonsillectomy.

I went to gp today and have been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis which basically means really bad pain in my right heel caused by wearing flat shoes :( I need to buy support arches for all my shoes and potentially replace others immediately before I do any more damage. Rats! I'm wearing my trainers for now until I can look at the budget. I've been told I have to wear shoes all the time which is driving me insane!

Have had an offer to rehome 3 of the chickens to. And I have lost weight although I'm not sure how much! Weighed myself at weekend and thought it was about 5lbs but gp reckons its about 5kg! I'm sure he has made a mistake and I'm going to go with my weigh in until I can check again. Go the plan!

  • DS3 poorly today :( I woke up surrounded by broken children. My friend was called to the hospital last night to say goodbye to her Mum so I had her son and her doggy for a sleepover. I was up and down all night as I felt like I was on call. DS3 wet the bed about 6 times last night (he usually wears pyjama pants but we'd run out) so I woke up to piles of washing a very broken little boy who wanted his mummy, a poorly, grumpy DS1 and a poorly, tearful DS3. So I'm at home again today and trying to relax into circumstances that are beyond my control. I am trying to use my day to get my bedroom sorted. I've taken the wardrobe doors off so that I can at least get in it now. I've emptied the cupboards and drawers and re-filled them. I now just have all the leftover homeless bits to deal with. Which I will after a lovely cup of chai ;) Hopefully a nice, clean, tidy room will help me to sleep. Eventually I need to remove the fitted wardrobe (not a task i'm relishing) and find myself a freecycle wardrobe and drawers.

Ok. Back to the grindstone. Need to help DS3 with some batteries whilst kettle boils and then super spiv the room before school pick up.

Oh and student loan rebate came through today so can buy some nappies :) - thank goodness, don't think my washing machine can cope!

morning ruby, just found your diary :) hope you're ok my love, really like your goals list x
  • Whoops! I hate it when I haven't posted for a while because I enver know how to start with catching up! I fell off the waggon - the MSE waggon that is... And I'm blaming a boy ;). Oh dear! I'm too old for such frivolities! Nothing exciting to report other than a couple of fun nights out with a very handsome man. Very much doubt it will come to anything more than that but it has brought out my irresponsible side! I haven't kept my spending diary up to date and I'm feeling rather cross with myself!

I spilt wine on my laptop which has led to my prolonged internet absence. The internet kept cutting out but fingers crossed it seems ok now. And then when I come back MSE has been revamped and I can't find anything! DS1 had his tonsillectomy yesterday which feel like a big relief. I'm not sure he agrees with me right now because he's pretty miserable and in a lot of pain but hopefully it is all for the greater good. I have a week off work with him so i should be feeling super productive but I'm actually feeling super lazy and a bit demotivated :( - where has my mojo gone?!

I have lost 8lbs though :) - need to overlook the fact that boredom munchies kicked in this afternoon - will just have to up the hula hooping this week!

So tomorrow, if I achieve nothing else I should revisit my carefully thought out goals and check where I am and where I need to be. Oh and maybe, phone the bank to find out why the ATM took my card. Yesterday, at the hospital. Leaving me with no food or emergency funds :(

And of course I will update you guys!

  • Hmmmm. Best laid plans and all that. I was actually woken up by DS1 in a desperate state because his throat had closed. He couldn't swallow anything, couldn't tolerate anything orally and couldn't speak. Needless to say he was readmitted to hospital. He's been really poorly, the other 2 have been passed from pillar to post and the ex-h has behaved so appallingly it beggars belief.

Made it home today thanks to fantastic friends rallying around. Phoned the bank (co-op) to find out what is going on with my account and they have closed it. No discussion, no appeal, that's it. I sat sobbing down the phone, I explained that I was home alone with 3 children, 1 really poorly and just out of hospital, I argued that my account was in credit and had never been in arrears, I pointed out that I had resolved the problem (my mortgage kept bouncing because the date of my tax credits had changed) but they absolutely wouldn't budge. So I now don't have a bank account, I can't access my money and none of my bills have been paid.

My lovely ex-bf has come to the rescue and done a shop for me. I've had help from lots of lovely friends. Just feel utterly drained though. Time to start looking for a new basic account.

Oh and DS2 broke me. He walked into the house and attacked DS1. My mum has come and taken both him and DS3 away for the weekend. DS3 sobbing his little heart out because he wants his mummy and he hasn't seen me all week. DS2 feeling awful because he thinks its all his fault :( And I'm really worried they're going to get snowed in without me :(

So feeling pretty rotten today. And I really want a glass (or several of wine) and know that I really can't have a drink as the sole adult in charge of a very sick child. So that will have to wait. Might have to hide the wine from myself to avoid giving in to temptation!

And ref the ex what did you expect? That is why he is about to be the ex isn't it? He has already shown callous disregard for his children, by cutting the money he pays for THEIR welfare!

I am sure this is against the banking code of conduct to close an account without notice. You will have to write in, but maybe if you start a thread on the bank board they might be able to give you a template to save time.

Because DS1 was getting all the attention (no criticism intended). Can I very gently suggest that maybe this is a crisis point in your relationship with the boys, and that you REALLY need to shout for help now. Both for THEM and for YOU.

You sound so terribly desparate in this post, and I just want to whip round with a big box of your favourite something and give you a big hug.

Please don't take my comments the wrong way. I feel that one thing is piling up on top of another at the moment, and I am worried about your health.

  • Hi Ruby ((__))

Hope you have managed to sort another bank account out.

Can you take your money out of your account if you go into a branch?

I bank with Co-op and a few times I have had items 'bounced' and the letter states that if I do it too many times they will close my account, I assume this is what has happened - so much for being an ethical bank.

Hope DS1 is feeling better now and DS2 is much calmer.

Have you got anyone to talk to about all this?

  • Hey Chevalier, Hey Eager. Just dipping in really quickly because I know I have been absent and I know you must be worried. Just wanted to say that things are ok. DS1 got really, really sick - he had 3 readmissions in all, 1 by ambulance. He is completely better now. The above crisis was a reflection of how desperate the dynamic is in our house. And I have yelled for help. my mum came to the rescue twice but I do need a more permanent solution. I fixed the bank stuff but still have a lot of paperwork to do. The co-op were unco-operative. The bank clerk was very surprised at my £1700 balance. I never had any arrears with them Eager so do be warned! Barclays have stepped up and so far been excellent.

I'm still in the thick of it - need to provide all my divorce evidence to the court by tomorrow. Feel stressed and under pressure and insomnia is crucifying. But please know that that aside I'm actually feeling the happiest I have in a long long time.

Will try and update you asap but really really feeling the strain at the mo. Keeping you all in mind xxx
