how to pay off finance when selling bike?

Hi

I know there will be an answer because it must happen all the time I just can't think what it is!

My friend wants to sell his bike which is on finance (with black horse). He can't sell the bike until its paid for, he can't pay for it until its sold.

He's found someone who wants to buy it for £2900. The finance is £3200. He has got £300 cash to pay on top.

The buyer knows its on finance and doesn't want to take it without the finance being paid.

He can phone bh tomorrow, we're just sat trying to think of a solution tonight.

Any suggestions?

  • How about buyer writes cheque out to friend and they pay it into the latters account - this on same day but after the buyer has watched the friend write out and post the final cheque to BH to clear the finance?

  • Or, take buyer and own cash to BH office and pay then off there and then. Hope this helps:money:

Many years ago my son was buying a car that was already on finance. I seem to remember that we went with the seller to some local office to make sure that the money we gave him was actually used to pay off the seller's loan.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
