Lloyds TSB Overpayments Online

Hi,
I have decided that I would like to start overpaying my Lloyds TSB loan so that I can reduce the interest that I am paying on it however when I tried to set up an online payment from my Lloyds account (using a/c no. and sort code that I found on this website) it says that I can't add a Lloyds TSB Loan account as beneficiary. I also tried setting up a payment in my Halifax online account however get a message saying that I can't add a Halifax Loan account as a beneficiary - I don't have a Halifax Loan! Looks as though their systems are now merged as they even look identical apart from one being blue and the other green.
Why are they stopping me from paying extra (OK, I kind of already know the answer)? Is it just to make it as difficult and akward to pay them as possible or is there another reason? Would they accept online payment from a non-Lloyds group bank? The fact that they only accept payment in the form of cheque or with a visit to the branch is a backward step with this faster payment system that they keep going on about.

Not sure what you mean by the above....
My OH had a lloyds Tsb Loan which he overpaid every week, he set up the standing order using the acc number and sort code which showed on his online banking for the loan when he logged in... does this help any? Just to add the payment came from his regular Lloyds tsb account....On the road to financial freedom.... one MSE penny at a time....:T0 -
Or just phone them up and make a payment whenever you fancy. They have had some IT issues - i.e. they have not been able to improve a lot of their services recently as they have been too busy intergrating the seperate systems form a few other banks etc.
It's really no great hassle to phone them up with your debit card.
(I do it every month - at the same time as berating them that they should really improve their IT systems so I can do it online!)Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0 -
As above posters have said
- standing order
- debit card over the phone
- branchCan I find out my credit score? You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)0
