Baby Sitting

I've been sat here this last hour thinking..."how can i earn a bit extra dosh?" I already work full time as a family worker in Childrens services, no good at making stuff, rubbish on the pc... dont even know what blogging is, can't clean my own house and don't know what ironing is. Then it hit me, I'm a qualified nursery nurse with years of experiences, I'm CRB checked with loads of training, paediatric and emergency first aid training, safeguarding training... so how on earth am I supposed to make a few extra quid? Babysitting!!

Where do I start though? Would need to work evenings or weekends. How would I advertise? A sign saying babysitter implies a 15 year old looking for work. And above all what can I charge?

Hope someone can help me out here... I feel as if there is a light at the end of the tunnel for once... Thanks:A

I've just applied, and I know someone who has worked for them for a few years, and is very impressed with them.

I would put a few shop cards out saying you are a mature qualified nursery nurse with ? years experience. You may find you could perhaps go a bit higher than the normal babysitting rates in your area (check your local paper and shops for going rates) as you are qualified but depends on what people are prepared to pay.

    Good luck

Ive also been thinking the same, Ive posted ads on gumtree but not had much look, ive also thought about putting cards in shops but not sure what to put on the advert, i have alot of experience and a number of qualifications so not sure which bits to include.

Check out the local noticeboards on the NetMums website and advertise there?

However, OP, I'd check that your employers are happy for you to do so. Given that you work in Children's Services, people might have difficulty separating you in your paid job from you as a babysitter - if you have problems on a "sit" it might result in problems with your employer if a complaint is made.

I would say more info the better on a card and make it eye catching, how about advertising in school newsletters - ours has a weekly one handed to parents and charges a reasonable amount for having an advert in it or do some fliers and put them through doors.
