in Cutting tax
Hello, can anyone tell me please - after you have sent your self assessment form off to the IR, no tax to be paid, do you receive anything back from them confirming they have recieved it and the figyres on it?
I'm asking because my Partners se earnings were such a small sum he doesn't use an accountant. I am applying for an OU course with funding and the financial department want an Inland Revenue calculation to prove the se earnings. The se earnings are listed alongside his paye earnings on our Child Tax credit form but these haven't been accepted as adequate proof by the OU.

Thanks. My partner sent his off at the beginning of January, he has done the calculations himself. Could you estimate the time between sending in your return and receiving any correspondence back please?
Need to know if I should ask my partner to ring them about it as my forms need to be in by the beginning of March.
Thanks

Any Self Assessment return submitted between 1 October and 31 January will be processed before the end of March. Once it is processed a tax calculation is sent out (SA302), the last of these should arrive by mid-April at the latest. Any late returns will be processed after the rest have been dealt with, and as far as I know there's no deadline to which HMRC are bound regarding late submissions.Quidco savings: £499.49 tracked, £494.35 paid.0

:j Thank you that's exactly what I needed to know, however my brain wasn't working properly and the words I needed to use just weren't coming!
Many thanks
