Experian-has anyone else been conned?

That is naughty. Any web developer worth his salt (me for example hehe) would have set up the site to check for multiple form submissions and handled it properly.ohmsoft wrote:Hi
I got "stung" with this (stupidy twice as I double clicked the button!).
To be honest they are right that it is stated in the terms etc but, I kept on, and on at them by email - a total of 17 emails! And the eventually caved in once I managed to get hold of a Team Supervisor in their Membership department...
So yey I got my money back - but £9.98 for 17 emails?! I could have done an hours overtime at work!!0 -

In fairness they could not make it any clearer.
When I signed up a few months ago a message said "check this box if you would like to order your national credit score for £4.99" and then had a checkbox next to it that you had to tick in order to take that option.
What else would you reasonably expect? If you didn't understand it then you shouldn't have clicked it.
A bad workman.....0 -
i accidently pressed it 3 times and got charged £15!! How did you argue your point? Its alot of money for a skint student!
No you didn't. You got impatient because nothing was happening and clicked again. It's O.K, I and I am sure everyone else here has done that at some point.
As I have mentioned in another reply Experian are REALLY letting themselves down on a couple of points.
1) There is no warning that multiple clicks will incur multiple charging
2) There is no status interaction. That damn button should become non-pressable and a notice advising that something was being processed should come up so that you know you actually clicked on it.
I know the second one kind of happens but only once the page has changed to the next one. It should happen on the same page.0 -
Ok thanks, Wigwam, for pointing out to me that I am obviously stupid!
Maybe I didn't read it properly. However, my point is that the TV advert suggested a completely free trial.
Yes, I have learned a lesson and put it down to experience, but I wasn't the only one as we have seen here. BTW I do not blame my tools and accepted my mistake. ohmsoft was stronger than me and got his(her?) money back. I think that says something on behalf of Experian.
I still think the whole hype was misleading and of course you are welcome to disagree.
You don't get anything for nothing - what more can I say...0 -
I signed up today for credit expert ... and it wouldn't let me see by report instantly .... I'm still waiting .... and I notice that a strange amount of 68p has been debited from my card ... I assume it's to verify who I am but as it has been authorised I can't see why I can't view my report straight away ...
