Was looking to find out some info about our local LETS scheme (batering exchange service) and came accross something called Batercard which is for businesses, I wondered if anyone had any experience of the site as it sounds like a brilliant idea and it would really come in handy
Any advice or knowledge would be great x

Looks really complex to me. I think after initially scanning the site for a few seconds, if I was a business I'd think "Nah I'll stick with cash" and would close the page down.
Cant see it taking off at all.0 -
I guess you mean Bartercard . Some info to get your teeth into.

ahhh thanks very much, looks like it could be useful for my OH and his business as he has no stock to sell (PC engineer and designer) me on the other hand I have stock coming out my ears and I don't think it would get me to £1million, more like send me bankrupt, OH is gonna look into it some more and see who if anyone will take the barter£ which seems to be the problem! Gonna have another look at the LETS scheme. Thanks for the info, it was very helpful0

Not that I use it, but I know Bartercard is very heavily used in Northampton, with everything from accountants to car repairs.
It seems to have quite a following around the local small businesses here.0 -
Personally, I'm rather wary of any scheme that costs me real cold hard freely tradable cash in exchange for a pseudocurrency which limits how I can spend it. Especially if it isn't absolutely clear and transparent - anything that involves any degree of hand-waving is a massive red flag to me.
And not all the experience stories you read are love stories - bear it in mind.0 -
I never used it but it seems to me that the organisation has simply made good old contra deals into an organised business for themselves. Before money was invented all we had were contra deals. You scratch my back etc etc. I think it's always better to approach any business you want products of services from personally. If you have something they need (apart from cash) they may be open to considering what you have in mind. There is a group on LinkedIn called Contra Deals & Cashless Trading.0
