constant unfair treatment by boss

there are so many problems with my employment right now (well since i started to b honest)....i tend to ramble as there are so many examples i can give that they tend to pop up randomly so excuse me in advance, my boss has my mind scrambled!,,..
.right, *started voluntary work arranged thru the work trials at local jobcentre. my workin hours are fairly restricted as i have a mentally disabled 14 year old son(for whom i receive DLA at low rates)
worked until january 19th before i was finally given the job officially (WIthout pay)
have been verbally abused by my boss...accused of being a gypsy!!...without any reason to insinuate this,.....shouted at in a lunchtime rush that my problem is i should grow up, at top of his voice!(revels in humiliating his staff!)
daily dodge bread rolls which he has randomly decided to throw accross the shop to see who he hits!...
as delivery driver i have had to drive his vehicle with1- no tax..2-no mot for two months last year...3-driven the car with windscreen wipers which do not work...4-constantly begged him to get the brakes done, which garage recommended 4 months ago!...5-been immediatly taken off the road by a spur of the moment safety check whilst deliverin to the garage we use for maintance...6-daily sit in the drivers seat which has bare metal poking thru on the right side where the back joins the seat, which is painful to sit in let alone land on it as i get in
hand winding mechanism bust and the drivers window shattered all over me, for which i then had to pay the boss £60
deliver to areas which require me to park in council car parks for max of 3 mins, which often results in my receiving a parking fine off our friendly Demon...of which the boss insists i am to pay
was led to believe that as a delivery was late on arrival to a ferry,( because the boss called mobile n called me back to the shop n expected me to break all dock speed limits to return n deliver before the ferry departed...), which as expected was impossible, boss then made me return to do 3/4 hour unpaid overtime on the ferries next dockin, and told me that i would still have to pay him the cost of the contract order for the cost of the delivery that day...the result was he still paid me at the end of the week but revelled in watchin me all week in pieces at the dread of the invoice cost he was goin to issue me with!
all in all during the year i have worked here, i have loved every minute, i clicked with the other staff instantly!, even bosses daughter!, yet the man seems intent on makin my enjoyment of my working day a living hell. i have considered leavin but my sons learn by seein and especially my disabled son, needed to see and learn that people work for their money no matter how hard that can make your day sometimes....my work is also my sanctuary as it gives a purpose somewhere away from four walls every day, yet even tho i go thru all this daily and the fact it has made life harder for me at home at times and gotten in the way of some important consultant appts in the past, the worst thing is that financially worse off by working too
may somebody please advise me of my rights..........help!

never mind your rights- what about your responsibilities - why are you driving his delivery van illegally?
Driving a vehicle which has no MOT and No Tax means that it therefore has no insurance and this is YOUR responsibility as the driver - and it is YOU who will get fined, have the points on your licence and be financially responsible for any damage or injury which occurs as a result of an accident - because you have no insurance
you are breaking the law
Common misconception, but having no MOT or tax does not invalidate your insurance.0 -
As a professional driver...also a previous private hire car driver, i am very well aware of my responsibilties towards the safety of the public and myself. as my license is also my livelihood, i of course would not willingly endanger myself or others, im afraid i may av made myself unclear, at no point during the time of driving without said tax and other time m o t....i had been assured the tax had been done online...and as for the m o t as i am not the registered owner i do not have the documents for the car, i am employed by a local business owner and was sent there originally by a government funded work trials placement, forgive me for my ignorance but i guess i kinda just assumed to an extent that the motor would b safe and legal...upon my discovery of lackk of mot i then announced my refusal to risk drivin that vehicle, after which the mot was done the following 4 days later, during which time i had to for go my basic wage as my boss refused to pay me as there was no company vehicle available to use that day....i was propsitioned to use my own car or not work, as a well informed legal driver i obviously declined to use my own motor for work as obviously id have had invalid insurance....but yeah, thanks for ya comment...never mind your rights- what about your responsibilities - why are you driving his delivery van illegally?

these are YOUR responsibilities and quite why you would want to work for this man is beyond me
I don't mean to sound harsh - but your life is difficult enough with caring for your son- surely you can find alternative employment with a better employer?
oh, and as an aside - you have NO rights of protection in your job until you have been employed by him for 12 months - he can sack you for anything ( other than sexual discrimination or racial descrimination) and you have no rights of redress.0 -
oh - how many people do you know who have been had an accident with no MOT & Road Tax whose Insurance companies have paid up?
None. But if you do a search on this board you will find loads of cases that prove the point.
If the car being in an unroadworthy condition contributes to an accident then this could be a reason to invalidate the insurance. However, it's not as simple as no MOT = no insurance.0 -
and as for my life being hard as it is, yep, ya couldnt b more right, but i have a duty to show my kids that ya cant just sit around taking handouts, when ya are physically able to work and earn a living, therefore rather than just say so, instead i am showing them, thats how children learn0

My car was written off with a MOT but no tax and I got paid with no issues.oh - how many people do you know who have been had an accident with no MOT & Road Tax whose Insurance companies have paid up?Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

You may have rights under the Equality Act 2010 as a carer.0 -

As others have stated, not having Tax or an MOT would not invalidate any motor insurance.
In addition an employee driving a company vehicle cannot be prosecuted for driving with no insurance providing they were not aware the vehicle had no insurance.
You're quoting urban myths.0 -

There are a number of issues here...I would consider shopping your boss to the DVLA re: no MOT and Road Tax as this at least will force him to correct anything that may cause the vehicle to fail the MOT.
You're not going to be able to do anything to change your boss's behaviour, I'm sure there's another side to the story here.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
