cant afford npower's prepayment tariff!!

Options
My girlfriend and I moved into a one bed room apartment on 1 Feb 2007. We were too excited to check the prepayment meter at that time, and when we lost our electricity supply (there is no gas in the apartment) the next morning, we found that we were £3.5 in debt...

(long story here... As the landlord gave us a wrong electricity card, we put £20 into WESTMIDLANDS ELECTRICITY CARD while actually we are on npower. The landlord didnt turn up until it got completely dark everywhere, and he gave us the RIGHT card.)

So, we got £16.5 credit in the meter on 2 Feb. Then, one of the fuse in our flat broke down and we had to live in our friends' house till monday as we couldnt get in touch wiv the landlord during weekends.

We went back home on Mondy ( 5 Feb) with £14 left in the meter, and we thought everything was gona be fine. However, when we checked the meter yesterday afternoon (7 Feb), there was only £0.1 credit left!!! After we toped up £20 again on 7 Feb, the next morning (today 8 Feb) the meter showed £14.6 credit, which means we used £5.4 over 18 hours!!

We r not on eco 7, and the landlord wouldnt permit us to switch from prepayment meter to something else. We really dont knw what to do...

Why are you using the card the landlord gave you? Why have you not registered with nPower and got a new card?

You could be payig back a previous tenant's, or even the landlord's outstanding bills at the property or the payments could be going to the wrong account. It is imperative you speak to nPower immediately. Also keep the receipts for any payments you have made so they can be transferred onto your account.
