Between my husband and myself we have 16 creditors, we are starting our dmp. I have had four of mine and one of my husbands default, this I am not worried about.

My questions is though if defaults are on your file from the date of issue isnt it better if all of ours end up as defaulting now instead of in a few years time then our credit file will be quicker.

Will they all just default or can we ask for them to be defaulted.

On a DMP then yes you are really best getting defaults straight away. And usually most or all will issue defaults within the first few months.

Occasionally 1 or 2 might not, especially if your DMP payment for a particular creditor ends up being not much less than the proper payment. There is not a lot you can do if they won't default you early though.

But if the do default you several years down the line for no particular reason (ie not related to say your payments having to reduce further) then there is a possibility you can challenge this under ICO guidelines (not always easy but a possibility).

Thank you, one threatened it on the phone today and I told them to carry on if they want. I am not concerned about my credit file for the next few years although in about eight of so I would like to move house.
