Self-assessment question

Hi, I'm a freelance self-employed editor, working as a sole trader and usually earning just enough to start paying basic income tax.

I've just started working for a new client, and after editing their journal they want me to print off quite a lot of proof pages for them. Obviously that costs me money in terms of paper, ink, wear and tear, so I've agree that they will pay me a few pence per page printed out.

When I come to do my tax return, do I just count the cost of paper etc as expenses and add the money from the client to my income from my usual editing work, or do I have to do anything more complicated than that?

Expenses for the paper and ink and any replacement parts of the printer (such as a laser drum), and capital allowances if you have to replace the printer and then new one is expected to have a reasonable shelf life.
Quidco savings: £499.49 tracked, £494.35 paid.
