Univeristy Part-time loan help
Hi all,
I am very disappointed as today I finally managed to get through to the Open University to enquire about financial support for taking on a Part-time Science degree, to find out that I don't qualify for any help.
I am on a low wage, earning £16,004 pa. My partner is in temporary employment currently, and has been for the past 3 months. After his contract ends he could possibly be unemployed for an unknown amount of time. His current wage makes me ineligible for help, even though he would not be contributing to any repayments for the study, which I have to say I find quite unfair! (I know my feelings on it being unfair are irrelevant, just having a little rant!)
Can anyone give any pointers as to any other way I can try to afford some education? I really want to break free from endless dead end jobs, but currently see no way out. I cannot afford the £95/ month repayments that the Open University wanted for the science degree. I have looked into things like learndirect, but nothing they offer interests me.
