Steaming pasta/rice

Does anyone steam foods such as pasta and if so does it taste ok?
Want to return to eating more wholemeal grains(pasta/rice etc) but family member can't eat wholemeal for health reasons(joke not!)
I haven't found anything that you can cook both in (but separately) so was wondering about cooking one type the normal way(in water) and putting the other in a steamer on same pan.
Will this work or does anyone have any better suggestion?

I have a rice cooker; that is metal, in 2 halves with holes in - I'd put the smaller amount into that one [75g per person] and the larger amount into the saucepan; and cook them together....
You could split the sauce and cook the pasta in the sauce rather than cook it separately and then mix it; just add more water to the sauce and make sure it doesn't go too dry before serving....If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
That is a good idea re the pasta and sauce especially as family member is a meat eater and I am not so that will be a really convenient way of doing it
Will save a lot of hassle and saucepans too! 0
