Wow - twins under one must keep you busy!
Might be worth checking out some of the other boards here on MSE regarding try to get deals on baby stuff such as the nappies etc - there are tips on which own brand ones are good (I think a lot say lidl nappies are very similar to pampers or something) and there are always posts on where has wipes and stuff on offer.
How much longer will they be on formula for (I have no idea about these things!). Still worth checking out the oldstyle section of the forum to see if you can reduce the groceries for you and OH (some on here can manage on £120-150 for 2 adults with careful meal planning and a few changes in shopping habits).
Still even if you can only shave £50 off this, if you cut presents & entertainment you should have enough to start making some inroads into your debts, even if its only £100 a month to start.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
sorry i missed these
Entertainment? this is a rough estimate some months it can be 0 but then others it can be £200 like this month we have 6 family birthdays to go to
Holidays? this is only this year, we never go but we have a wedding to attend abroad and its expensive
Presents? this is high i really need to cut this i know

I also cant sell the car becuase it was bought for us from my family they would go crazy if i sold it
I will look into the groceries this month and shop around we just shop in sainsburys and never really look at deals on anything elsewhere
thank you
They will be on formula another 6 months0 -
From doing the Grocery Challenge for a few months - I'm sure I've heard some over there saying that Al*di's nappies are better than "the leading brands" and a very good price ...... even if a wee way away, it may work out a lot cheaper to go & stock up every so often. Honestly, pop in and say "hi" over there - there are several large families and they'll know every trick in the book!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Are you or your partner able to do any part time work to perhaps top up your income a bit that way you would be able to get on top of your debts more quickly while still being able to save for the family comitments that you have.
Have you spoken to your family or has your partner spokjen to theirs, mabey if they knew what your situation was they would be able to help, not necessarily financialy but perhaps in a more practical sense childcare etc.
Also you say that the car can not be sold for a cheaper runaround because your family bought it, I understand that you don't want to offend them but if they knew of your situstion they may prefer that the car that they gifted you was sold in order for you to get back on your feet financially.
Hope this helps a little bit1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

Neither can work right now i am her carer and theres no way she could be left with the babies why im at work, so i would have to pay childcare and also get someone in the house with her becuase she cant be left alone
I could probably ask family/tell them the situation and they would offer to pay the debt before i sold the car (which getting smaller isnt really an option with a double pram, 2 car seats and a wheelchair0 -
thank you for all the replies reading back looks like i am making excuse after excuse to your responses i am not doing this maybe i should have explained more in the first post0

Hi
I really do feel for you it must be a difficult situation to be in, Have you made sure that you are getting everything you are entitled to especially if your wife has a long term illness or disability,
It is not easy to tell family when you are in trouble financially but I think the best way to look at it is to think 25 years down the line and your own two little babies being adults in need of help for whatever reason, you would want to think that they could turn to you and that you could help in any way you could.
I really hope you manage to get some help from somewhere.:)1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

Can I just say "thank you" for that - a lot of people do exactly the same but you are giving reasonable explanations for why many things can't be cut - which is a good thing.
Unfortunately, it means that the areas that are left ..... may have to face tougher choices eg if the car needs to stay - the number of journeys has to be reduced to save on fuel costs etc.Neither can work right now i am her carer and theres no way she could be left with the babies why im at work, so i would have to pay childcare and also get someone in the house with her becuase she cant be left alone

mmmmm I'm wondering if you would qualify for a car through the Mobility Scheme? I don't know a lot about it but it may be worth investigating: http://www.motabilitycarscheme.co.uk/main.cfm?type=CHSWGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Hi, I would echo the above, look on the disability board and make sure you are getting everything you are entitled to. Maybe housing benefit, DLA, ESA etc - you might have missed something.
Theres lots of helpful people on the disability board, but unfortunately there are also a few nasty people - please ignore them and just use it for advice. With Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0
