647l m1 tax code on p60

Hi I am doing a joint claim for tax credits and my partners p60 has the tax code of 647l m1! He also only has the earnings through that employment not including his previous job that he came straight from to go to that job. So I don't know how much he earned that yr! I just wondered if that tax code is anything todo with it ?? And wat to do about it???

Add the P45 figures to it. Except the (non cumulative) emergency code could be because he didn't supply a P45 to the new employer?
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

as the taxcode is incorrect, it may (or indeed may not) be that his tax for last year is incorrect so best to check.
