Canal Street is the Gay night spot, so I can see why they wouldn't want hen parties there.

Hen parties are annoying to the gay community....

  • "Hen parties are annoying to the gay community...."

This is such a general comment and completely unnecessary. There may be a section of the general population that find hen parties annoying but generalisation about one community is ridiculous.

  • As you will find in many city's and towns across the whole country! It's not limited to the gay community. There are loads of bars and clubs everywhere that will not allow hen or stag parties in.

In the context of canal street, of course it's going to be the gay community that complain here......it's the gay quarter!

I went to the Birdcage for a friend's birthday - I thought I'd hate it but it was actually really fun! We booked in advance so got our own table for the night right at the front. They also played loads of chart music and there were hardly any men so we just had a hoot without being pestered! But be aware that there will be about 10 other hen parties on, if that's something that will bother you

I'd also agree with whoever mentioned Tiger Tiger above. There are loads of floors with different music playing from 80s to Indie to dance - so just find your favourites and stay in there. You can probably book a package with a meal, sometimes they have comedy nights, there's also kareoke pods if you wanted to hire one of them for a couple of hours.

In regards to Deansgate Locks where you've said that you may go - I find it to be hit and miss. It's a row of clubs and pubs so you can go from one to the other down the strip and choose which one to stay in (although you'll prob have to pay entry to some). I've found it to be getting rougher and more "dance" than chart - BUT I've had some fantastic nights out there and it may just be because I'm turning into a boring old fart!

Northern Quarter is my usual hang out - but if you don't know where you're going it can be tricky as they're all spread out around lots of little streets. I can suggest Copacabana if you want an organised hen do - lots of fun, inc food & dance lessons. Only it gets super hot later as no air con!

    Where is your hotel??
    Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93
    Crazy Clothes Challenge # 103 - £84/£200 £30 Coat/£12 shirt/£23 jeans/£6 t-shirt/£13 2 x tops
Shoes £79/£100: Cowboy boots, canvas pumps, re-heal boots/ £25 safari shoes
  • Thanks for the info trying_2_b_good! We haven't booked the hotel yet, but it's probably going to be the Jury Inn as it's working out at £30 each and it's near the lock. Plan is: Cocktail class at Revolution on Saturday afternoon, few afternoon drink around the lock, hotel to get ready, Restaurant Bar & Grill for Dinner, then Printworks. Thinking of hiring a booth and drinks package at TigerTiger. However, nothing is booked YET, so i;m still taking suggestions!!!
