Marks & Spencer Wage Query - P45 Help, Advice Needed :)

Hey Everyone,

I have just finished a Christmas job at Marks & Spencer - I started on the 21st November and finished on the 24th December. I kept a track of the hours I did (108 over the total period) at £6.40 an hour. Anyway to cut a long story short they appear to have underpaid me by about £100 - one weeks wages - I do remember them saying they held your first weeks wages to the end ..... however I received a P45 today, does this mean they have no intention of paying me any more money? The P45 has a "total amount in this employment" which made me wonder. If so I will have to give them a call. Does anybody have a contact number for the M&S wage department?

Many Thanks,

Rob

If they have issued a P45 that includes all that they thought they should pay you.

Sorry, I don't have a contact to suggest.
  • my oh was an xmas temp at marks a few years ago and he got his last wage a week later than he expected, id suggest if you dont get it tuesday give them a call

Also if there was a problem with wages he had to go through his line manager

Thanks for replies - spoke to M&S and they have indeed confirmed I am to receive my final weeks wages on Tuesday.

Did they say why they had issued a P45 if they knew they were still to pay you for outstanding time?

More imprtantly, did the P45 figures include the week's pay that you had not yet received? If it didn't then I'd say the P45 is nonsense and they need to issue a new one showing the full amounts.

Certainly the OP (#1) suggests that the P45 amount didn't include the full amount due.
Of course, they can now apply a straight 20% deduction to the amount being paid after issuing the P45.
