Credit Agency Calls

Hi - I hope someone can help. I was declared BR in December, but I am still getting letters and calls.

When I did my BR Forms, I put down for example: HSBC Credit Card as a debtor. I am now getting calls and letters from a company called MoorCroft. I've ignored the calls and letters as i thought the OR would contact HSBC who in turn would contact MoorCroft.

Do i need to tell the OR I am being bugged by MoorCroft or can I continue to ignore the letters and calls?

You need to tell the OR about this and give them copies of the letters.

Moorcroft are most likely acting on behalf of HSBC, but it's possible that they have bought the debt instead.

If they have bought the debt, then they become the "creditor" as far as the OR is concerned, so you must tell the OR of this.

If you want you can also write to or email Moorcroft with details of your BR.

That might be a good idea, as quite often it can be a month or 2 after your BR before the OR gets around to writing to all creditors.

    I'm in the same situation.

I have a friend who works for the Insolvency Service and they're basically running flat out at the moment, so it will take a while for things to get ironed out.

I've not informed any of my creditors myself, but a couple of them have rung up and I've just given them the bankruptcy number and OR office address. I'm expecting more calls, which is fine.

I got this for a few weeks after my br date, initially I just ignored all the calls and letters but then I got pretty peeved off so I emailed a scan of my BR document to all my creditors and haven't heard a peep from any of them since.

It is highly unlikely that moorcroft have bought the debt. They are normally appointed as the creditors agents. I would also expect that the calls will stop in due time, moorcroft probably hasn't been told.
