Hi Everyone.
Thanks for taking time to help me out, i know there is a ton about this but i cant seem to find this exact problem.
As you can see below i have this on my credit report from Equifax, its a stupid debt i didnt even realise i had.
Anyhow it got passed to a debt agency who i have now paid off. However to me it looks like its still showing that its still there?? Or am i reading this wrong. It was paid off 5months ago ? maybe more.
If not then what should i do ?? Thanks

If it's paid off, then that is wrong.
Demand that the DCA updates the CRAs to show that the debt is settled and that the balance owing is £0.
You can also enter a dispute/notice of correction with Equifax in the meantime.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Once paid off it should state current balance nil and have a date satsified.
How recently did you pay it off? - your file can lag by a month or 2. If its longer than that then you need to chase up the debt collectors.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
5 months from the OP's post, so it not due to any reasonable "lag".Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

thanks .. thats what i thought.
Is there any procedure that i need to follow when contacting the debt agency?? Also will they be able to back date it to when it was actually paid?0 -
Just tell them that the information they are currently reporting to the CRAs is inaccurate and out of date, which puts them in breach of the Data Protection Act 1998.
See page 19 onwards of: http://www.ico.gov.uk/upload/documents/library/data_protection/practical_application/credit_explained_leaflet_2005.pdf

Yes.
The point is that the information recorded should be accurate and up to date.
So when recording a settlement date, it should backdated if that accurately reflects when the settlement occurred.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
