    I think you may be confused with a CCJ. If you do not receive the statutory notice, then the CCJ is void. However, this happens because that's what the law states.

    With a default ... you need the lender to agree to removing the default. So if you did not receive the notice, then write and ask them to remove the default from your credit file. It will help if you have since settled the outstanding amount or brought payments up to date. But there is no guarantee that the lender will agree to remove it and the law does not require them to do so.
