Hello peeps, don't post on here often but am a regular lurker and am hoping to pick your brains as I've got total brain freeze!!!!
I've been doing a fair bit of batch cooking and am having to mess around with transferring from hob pans to oven casserole dishes etc. Any thoughts on cheap(ish) options for hob to oven casseroles/stock pot type pans? I'd love a big Le Creuset but that's way out of price range!
Can you use stainless steel for both?
See what I mean, a daft question!!
TIA

Dunelm Mill do Le Crueset type dishes for quite cheap. I've got a couple & they are very good.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0

As long as the pan has knobs and handles that are heatproof, yes you can.
I have the 28cm shallow pan on this page (grey not black) it is very good, but very heavy!http://www.procook.co.uk/shop/Cookware/Cast-Iron-Cookware/d32/sd571Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Aldi often run promotions on their own cast iron (but is non-stick rather than just cast iron) so about £20 for a big one or £15 for a small or morrisons have had that gino chef promotions a lot last year
Didnt know about pro-cook, thanks Mrs Chip0 -
I've got this : http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-9034.aspx it's huge and well worth the money0

I've got the same one. It sometimes goes on a really good offer as well, don't think I paid much more than a fiver for mine. Love it.
As another poster said, it's usually the knobs/handles that are the issue for the oven as a lot aren't heatproof. You can use stainless provided it has heatproof knobs/handles. I have a massive Viners stainless stockpot (even bigger than the above one) that I picked up cheaply in TK Maxx and it's oven safe up to 180.0 -
A completely different option is Pyroflam. Santa brought me a set of these (they were on offer at £24.99 for the set just before Christmas) and I absolutely love them, they can go from freezer straight onto the hob, into the microwave, into the oven, whatever. And they are very light. I would definitely recommend them.0

Are there any hob to oven pots that are lighter than cast iron? As much as I love Le Creuset type pots the weight of them is a big issue for me. I also need one that works on an induction hob.Dum Spiro Spero0

Fab thanks everybody!!! Love the look of the pyroflam but I'm not sure I'd use the smaller ones so have ordered 2 tesco ones, the 24cm and 28cm :-)0
