How to cook like Heston

Options
Did anyone else watch this - I thought it was really interesting and I think I'll definitely try some of his tips.

I think that serving the chilli with the woodchips was a step too far though.

I was really looking forward to the show but found it a little ..not sure of the right word here..a little old (as in we had already seen or heard most if it before..ie I have found a pressure cooker speeds up the process....no, really ? Who would have thought it )

Also to make your own burgers you have to mince your own meat etc as if most of us can do that and this was meant to be a how to cook like him show not a look at how great I am but you can't do any of it type thing.
I just don't think he is any good at the basic teaching people stuff, I like him for his wild and wacky things and someone like Nigel Slater for the how to part.

I didn't see this latest programme but the some of the things i've seen Heston do in the past must be done to help dieters. If that doesn't put you off food nothing will. He reminds me of a couple of 5yr olds, digging up worms; throwing in a dead goldfish and thinking if they mix a bit of cat pooh they have the start of a nice meal to feed the baby.

Steak bit was good, i think with shows like this i pick ideas from it and make it more mse. I liked the oxtail pies but i'd make a big family pie instead with some veg too.

I didn't see the program but I know what you mean. My OH eats them like that when he has them as a pub meal. They always come like that, which is why I never go anywhere near them. Apart from the fact I wouldn't be able to move for a week if I ate that much :D:o

Are they save to eat like that? OH has the constitution of an ox but even so!!! is it the same as rare steak being okay? he likes that as well. Always mutters something along the lines of "A good vet could get it walking again" !! :rotfl:

tbh i dont think it is safe to eat them pink....i think its ok with steak because the inside has always been inside and couldnt have come into contact with anything...burgers on the other hand are mince so the centre could have come into contact with germs etc....that said if oh is here to tell the tale they must be ok
